I am making a budget spreadsheet.

I would like to enter certain expenses periods, i.e. weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly and yearly. I would also like a column showing total monthly and yearly costs. So far, I have created a data validation dropdown with the period frequencies. Would I use conditional formatting to do this?

So for the monthly column, could you say "if cell C1 is "weekly" then C2*52/12, if it's fortnighly, *26/12, if it's "monthly" *1, etc etc. How can you cycle through? I did this, =IF(B17:B="Quarter",C17*4) and it does work the way I want, but I have no idea how to check for the other variables. If possible, I would like to apply the formula to a whole column, referencing the rows to the left. I really appreciate any help!
