Google's own web version is quite slow to navigate between folders. The desktop version which syncs files (and file aliases to Google Docs) to your desktop filesystem lets you navigate between folders lightening fast like you can on your desktop. But some folders are too large to be synced to desktop (and alas I can't keep one account on my SSD and another with the larger folders on my external HD).

  • Please clarify what you mean by "browse Google Drive files"? Are you looking for a plain files list like the search results in order to avoid having to open each folder or are you looking for a tree view that list all the folders and their content? What size and resolution is the screen you are using? How big are the folders too large to be synced (are they larger than your HD / SSD)? – Rubén Feb 9 at 21:58
  • I believe there is a CLI interface to Google drive, where you can access the files and even mount Google drive to your local environment. Is this what you are looking for? – Neeraj Murarka Feb 10 at 4:33
