I am trying to find information on this but haven't really been able to find an answer.

Is there a way in Google Sheets to, through scripting, check a user's permissions for the sheet?

My permissions I mean whether the user is able to View, Edit, or Comment on the file.

For example, I am wondering if I could create a script for a sheet where the script only fires if the user attempting to trigger it is a user that is able to Edit the sheet. If a User that can Comment or just View the sheet attempts to fire the script, it does nothing.

  • are you aware that most scripts included in the spreadsheet needs to be installed/authorized anyway by each and every user? – user0 Apr 30 at 0:31
  • @user0 No, I was not aware of that. – Skitzafreak Apr 30 at 0:33
