I have a spreadsheet with time to failure data that follows the weibull distribution. The slope from the plot of time-to-failure and median-rank gives me the scale parameter. Is there a function to determine the shape parameter?

  • Helpful(?) link for answerers Weibull Distribution Parameter Estimation. Ugh: migrated from SU to WA already, but I think this actually belongs on math.se. @Masssly, per How to Ask, please explain what you've tried and what went wrong. If you can explain what you would do on paper, we can answer how to do it in Sheets/Excel. Please edit your question. – Joel Reid May 7 at 14:24

  • @JoelReid After plotting the failure times, the scale parameter corresponds to the slope Y/X. According to the link you shared, drawing a line parallel to the slope obtained can result to the shape parameter. Can that be done in a spreadsheet? – Masssly May 31 at 14:49
