  • I don't understand why you would want to do this. The cloud is supposed to be somewhere to keep your files safe from a computer that crashes. Extra storage does not cost much. – ahorn Jul 2 at 11:24
  • Nowadays there are two sync apps. Which one are you using? – Rubén Aug 1 at 2:59

In case it's important for you to synchronize the account with a local directory on your computer,

And you just do not want the files you deleted from the cloud to be deleted from the local directory on your computer.

You can do this:

  1. On your computer, click Backup and Sync enter image description here
  2. Click More enter image description here enter image description here Preferences.
  3. Next to "Removing items," click the Down arrow Down enter image description here:

    • Ask me before removing items everywhere: When you delete something on your computer, it will ask if you want to delete it everywhere.
  4. Click OK.

  • Wouldn't a better answer be to change that setting to "Don't remove items everywhere"? – ahorn Jul 2 at 11:22
