I have over 200GB of photos stored on my mac and it's time to move everything to Google Photos. I have over 15 years of photos stored and many of the older images have little metadata associated with them - some are even scanned images.

I have used Apple Photos to organize into a glorious hierarchical structure. The problem is that when I point Google Backup & Sync to to sync everything, how will Google handle the organisational structure?

For example, if I have organized photos as follows: Family > Birthdays > 1987 > Famous Ray's Pizza, will I be able to easily search Google for this particular photo album?

In the above example, I've scanned a photo from 20 years ago. There is no searchable metadata. In theory, the hierarchical structure could provide Google with enough information to make a "birthday 1987" search useful but will that be the case?
