I'm trying to format rows in my spreadsheet based on a single column (S), which is fine BUT S contains both the category and the status of the item in each row. I want to color the row based on the category and format the text based on the status (the number of each of those may change as the project I'm working on expands).

I have a table in a separate sheet that I'm using as a key/reference for setting up this formatting. But rather than creating 30 conditional formatting rules and then editing them individually if that key changes, I'd like to plug in a formula that matches Column S on the first sheet to the table on the second and applies the formatting of the matching cell (which includes the fill color and text formatting) to the given row.

Is there a way to do this with a custom formula or will I have to do this all manually?
