I have a google sheet with the first column giving the dates of particular events. Ideally, I'd like to have two side by side versions of the spreadsheet, one with cells before todays date and one with cells after todays date.

Welcome to Web Applications. You might use functions like SORT and QUERY and the filter / filter views features. If you need further help, please show what you tried and add a brief description of your search efforts as is suggested in How to Ask.

  • Thanks. I had originally tried filter views, but wanted the past and future cells in separate side by side sheet. I managed to use sort and query as suggested.

  • For a query that has a criteria based on the data, this webapps question and answer is helpful: How to make a query with Google Spreadsheet, that checks for a date. Also, the query documentation on literals.
