I added a section to Google News with the wrong title/search and now I'd like to delete it or edit it. How do I do this?

  • Click the 'Manage Sections' pencil icon
  • Hover over the mis-titled section and click the 'Delete' trash-can icon
  • 'Save' your changes

Apparently you can't anymore. See here: https://support.google.com/googlenews/thread/704608

Google News no longer supports customizing news sections. The documentation is unfortunately out of date.

Basically you can't remove the sections you have added. Waiting for google to reply.

  • Demonstrably not true. I see quite prominent "delete" links next to the sections I've added. – ale Dec 26 '17 at 14:15
  • And have you successfully deleted those sections? I've clicked those delete links over 2 dozen times. Guess what, those sections are still there. – Scott Johnson Dec 28 '17 at 14:36
  • Yup. Just deleted one. Restarted the browser, refreshed the page, and it stayed "gone". Are you using any add-ons that might be interfering with JavaScript? Have you tried a different browser? – ale Dec 28 '17 at 14:40
  • Lately I've tried on a Chromebook with the Chrome browser, on my Android phone with the News and Weather app. Can't recall if I tried any other browser on my phone. Just tried your method and it didn't work. Not sure if any extensions I have interfere with java (I'll shut them all down and try) but this should work with the android app. – Scott Johnson Dec 29 '17 at 20:56
  • Ok, I just shut down every extension and tried to delete one section, restarted the browser, Chrome on my Chromebook, the sections is still there. I'll just stay with inoreader until google hires a new tribe of monkeys. Thanks for your help Ale. – Scott Johnson Dec 29 '17 at 21:04
