I have been using the "FormMule" addon to create "Form Edit URL" apart from mail merge. However, the triggers for the addon seemed to have stopped working.

I found this post answered by Rubén: Show URL used to edit responses from a Google Form in a Google Spreadsheet by using a script

It works well but here is what happens once in awhile:

The cell which is supposed to get filled with the form edit URL is blank sometimes upon editing a response and then subsequently gets filled when the same response is edited yet again from the link appears after submitting a form.

Not sure if the above is clear. So here is an example.

The response sheet has 5 responses. Each has a edit URL generated with the above script. If I click on the edit URL link for the response in row # 2 and edit the form that shows up and click submit, the cell which had the edit url for this response is blank. However, clicking on the "edit your response" after editing the form the first time and then re-editing the response (so the form was edited twice) fills the cell with the edit url.

Any idea why this could be happening?

  • It's possible that the addon the script from my answer are trying to edit the same range. Try with a form/spreadsheet with the script but without the FormMule addon. – Rubén Mar 18 '16 at 13:54
  • Thanks very much Ruben. I checked and the FormMule addon was not set to "on" so it is unlikely that it was interfering. In any case, I will try it with a new sheet and keep an eye for any changes. – J Doe Mar 20 '16 at 13:43
