There are many ways of writing down your URL's. I personally am a sucker for Delicious even though the service has been facing some issue. The only reason I am stuck with them is because I have over 4000 bookmarks and have a few stacks which I like.
Usually, you can use a combination of one or more services:

Yes you can do it by adding entries to the /etc/hosts file in the same manner as you do in windows.
This can be done on a jail-broken iPhone relatively easily (either via SSH or a terminal app on the phone) and similarly from rooted Android. As far as I;m aware it can't be changed from Application code.

You don't need to do anything but login to Google on your desktop and phone.
As long as you login to your Google account on your desktop before you search for directions, Google Maps will automatically store your recent directions in My Places. This works in most browsers and on Windows, Mac or iPad.

Three methods for transferring touchy files on Gmail :
Compress/zip with a password. This may involve compressing twice,
because even with a password Gmail can still see the names of the

You can compress the file first see you can upload it, or even encrypt the apk with a password so that you can attach it to Gmail. You can use WinRAR or 7zip for that.
Although Google Photos is taking up your storage, the photos probably show up under Google Drive in a special subfolder called Google Photos.
